Before beginning a Parent Taught Driving Course, the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR), requires that the student’s “Designated Parent-Instructor” first complete the Parent-Taught Driver Education Instructor Designation Services Request and purchase the Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE) Program Guide. TDLR charges a separate fee, for the PTDE Program Guide, that is not included in our course fee.

There are two (2) Phases and two (2) Certificates of Completion required by the Texas DPS for the teen driver education licensing process; this course includes both certificates.

  • One (1)for the Learner License (Permit); and
  • One (1)for the Driver License

Any Texas teen who meets the following requirements is eligible to take our Parent Taught Driver Education Course:

  • Must be ages 14 – 17.
  • Must be a current Texas Resident.
  • Must be currently enrolled in school (Public, Private or Homeschool):
  • If graduated, the student may present a High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • A Parent or Step-parent
  • A “Legal” Guardian

  • A Foster parent

  • A Grandparent, Step-Grandparent; or
  • A Friend, Relative or person that has been designated by a parent or legal guardian

Yes, applying for your Driver License, you will need to complete the Impact Texas Teen Driver (ITTD) video. The ITTD video is a free video that must be completed directly through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) website.
