  1. How do I get started?

    Here are a few requirements and steps you’ll need to complete before getting Behind-the-Wheel:

    Before beginning any Parent Taught Driving Course, you MUST first complete the Parent-Taught Driver Education Instructor Designation Services Request and purchase the Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE) Program Guide from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR). TDLR will charge a separate fee for the PTDE Program Guide, that is not included in our course fee. Click HERE.

  2. Is this an “ONLINE” course and is the “Permit” test included?

    Yes, our course is Online & Mobile and includes the “Official” Permit test at NO additional cost!

    You’re able to take the Official Permit Test directly through our website. 👍

  3. How long do I have to complete the course requirements?

      Our course is self-paced. Which means that you can progress through the lessons at your convenience. 👍

      Account access expires one (1) year from your receipt “Order Date.”

  4. I already have my Texas permit, and only need to complete the driving requirements, can I enroll in this course to complete my 14 Hours of (In-Car) Instruction?

    Yes; here are a few requirements and steps you’ll need to complete first:
    1. You MUST have a valid Texas Learner License (Permit).
    2. You MUST have a DE964 “Transfer” Certificate verifying completion of the 32 Hours of Classroom Instruction.
    3. Complete the Parent-Taught Driver Education Instructor Designation Services Request: Click HERE

  5. Can I register for this course if I live in a different Texas city or county from the one your course is based?

    Yes, our course is state approved for every city and county in Texas.

  6. I’ve transferred my out-of-state driving permit to Texas, and only need to complete the driving requirements, can I enroll in this course to complete my 14 Hours of (In-Car) Instruction?

    Yes, here are a few requirements; and steps you MUST complete first: 👍

  8. Can I start now?

    Absolutely!

    If you’re a Texas Teen, 14-17 years of age, you’re good-to-go.

    Before beginning any Parent Taught Driving course, you MUST first complete the Parent-Taught Driver Education Instructor Designation Services Request and purchase your Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE) Program Guide from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).

    TDLR will charge a separate fee for the PTDE Program Guide that is not included in our course fee.

  9. Does this course include the Permit test?

    Yes, our course includes the “Official” Class C Road Rules & Signs (Permit) test at NO additional cost - you’ll be able to take it directly through our website.

  10. When can I take my Permit test?

    You’ll be able to take your Class C Road Rules & Road Signs (PERMIT) test directly through our website, after successfully completing Module 1 of 12.

    Per DPS rule, you MUST be at least fifteen (15) years of age to test and apply for a Texas Learner License (Permit).

  11. What happens if I fail my permit test, do I have to pay again?

    No worries, our course includes UNLIMITED test attempts, at no additional cost.

  12. What is a DE964 Certificate and is it included in this course?

    Yes, our course includes two downloadable DE964 Certificates, at no additional cost.

    • One (1) for the Learner License (Permit) and
    • One (1) for the Provisional License

    A DE964 Certificate of Completion is a legal document, required by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) as part of the Permitting & Licensing process.

    To qualify for a DE964 Certificate of Completion every Texas teen, ages 14-17, must enroll and successfully complete a State-Approved Driver Education course, like ours.

  13. How long do I have to complete the course?

    We allow one (1) year, from the date of purchase, to complete Modules 1-12 and the 14 Hour Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Log.

  14. Will I be required to take the Permit test at DPS?

    NO, our course includes the “Official” Class C Road Rules & Signs (Permit) test at NO additional cost - you’ll be able to take it directly through our website. 👍

    Please note that you will be required to take the "driving test” for your license at a DPS testing center or through an approved 3rd party tester. DPS & 3rd Party testers charge a separate fee that is NOT included in or associated with our course fee.

  15. Who is eligible to take this course?

    Per the state, a Teen who meets the following requirements is eligible to take our Parent Taught Driver Education Course:

    • Must be ages 14 – 17.
    • Must be a current Texas Resident.
    • Must be currently enrolled in school (Public, Private or Homeschool):
    • If graduated, the student may present a High School Diploma or its equivalent

  16. Am I eligible to take this Parent Taught Driver Education Course if I am Homeschooled or attend a Private School?

    Absolutely!

    • Must be ages 14 – 17.
    • Must be a current Texas Resident.
    • Must be currently enrolled in school (Public, Private or Homeschool)

  17. What happens if I turn 18 while enrolled in your course?

    No worries, if you enrolled into our course prior to your 18th birthday, you’re good-to-go!

  18. Who is eligible to teach this course?

    • A Parent or Step-parent
    • A “Legal” Guardian
    • A Foster parent
    • A Grandparent, Step-Grandparent; or
    • A person that has been designated by a parent, legal guardian or a court judge.

  19. Can a friend or relative teach this course?

    Yes, a friend or relative may qualify to teach this course. We recommend checking the Instructor Requirements: Click HERE

  20. Are there any additional requirements aside from completing this course?

    Yes, however the additional requirements, noted below, are separate from our course and can be started after completing Modules 1-12 & the 14 Hour Driving Log.

  21. What is the difference between this course and a “In-Person Classroom” course?

    There is no difference, in terms of course content and state approval, however, we’ve been at this for a minute…our course is Online, Mobile, More Convenient, Much Less Expensive and the Fastest Way to Get Your Permit & License!

    Plus, we are Texas Owned & Based… Howdy!

  22. Are there any additional fees not included or associated with this course?

    Yes, the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR), will charge a separate fee (currently $20) for the PTDE Program Guide.

    The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will charge a separate fee for the Learner License and a separate fee for the Provisional License.

    If you decide to take your Driving Test through an Approved 3rd Party Tester, they will charge a separate fee for their service that is NOT associated with or included in our course fee.

  2. My account is “Blocked” or “Not Activated,” what should I do?

    Account access expires one (1) year from your receipt “Order Date.”

    If your account shows a “Blocked” or “Not Activated” status, your account is expired. However, you can renew your account access and complete your course, without losing progress. See below: 👍

    Follow the Steps Below to Re-enroll:

    1. Register and pay the course fee: Click HERE to Register
    2. Once you register, disregard the “new” username
    3. Send us an email atSupport@ParentTaughtDrivingCourse.com
    4. Subject Line: “Re-enrolled”
    5. Include new your Order Number
    6. Include your original “username”

  3. I don’t know my username, what should I do?

    No worries, the username is the registered student’s first name, middle initial (if any) and last name (lowercase and one word).

    For example, John Q Doe = johnqdoe (username). We do not have access to passwords, but you can reset your password by clicking here.

    Note that the “password, reset link” will be sent to the email address associated with your account

  4. I don’t know my password, what should I do?
