Is the permit test included in this course?

Yes, our course includes the Official DPS Road Rules & Road Signs (Permit) test at no additional cost. Once ready, students are able to take their Permit test online and directly through our website.

Does this course include a Practice Permit Test?

Yes, our course also includes FREE Practice Permit Prep Tests to help ours students prepare for the Official DPS Road Rules & Road Signs Test, which we offer through our site for FREE.

How soon can I take my Permit test?

Once you begin our course, you’ll be able to take your Class C Road Rules & Road Signs (PERMIT) test directly through our website, after successfully completing Module 1 of 12.

However, per the state, you MUST be at least fifteen (15) years of age to test and apply for a Texas Learner License (Permit).

If you complete Module 1 before you turn 15 years of age, no worries, simply continue to Module 2, 3, 4, etc... and once you turn 15 years of age, our system will auto-unlock access to your Official Class C Road Rules & Road Signs (Permit) Test.

What happens if I fail my permit test, do I have to pay again?

NO, you will not have to pay for our course again. If a student fails their first attempt at the “Official Permit Test,” no worries, they are allowed to retest at no additional cost. However, per Department of Public Safety (DPS) guidelines, the student will be “locked-out” and prohibited from retesting for a period of 24 hours.

How does a student get their permit after passing the permit test?

Once a student successfully passes their “Official” Permit Test, our system will prompt them to download the first of two DE964 certificates required for the permitting & licensing process.

The student and their instructor must appear, in person, at their local DPS office to submit all of the necessary documents and fees required to obtain a learner’s permit from DPS.

Please Note that the student MUST be at least fifteen (15) years of age to apply for a Permit.

Prior to visiting the DPS licensing office to apply for a “Learner’s Permit” we recommend referring to the “Resources” tab in the Student Dashboard and printing forms DL-67 (Checklist) & DL14b (Application) to help with this process. We also recommend referring to the “DPS Requirements” link located in the student dashboard, “Help” tab.

Will I be required to take another “Permit” test at DPS?

NO, you will not be required to take another permit test at the DPS office, because you will have already taken it through our website. The DE964 Permit certificate we issue will indicate that you have already taken & passed the DPS Road Rules & Roads Signs test through our site.

Can I walk-in to DPS or do I have to schedule my appointment online?

Current DPS guidelines require everyone applying for a Driver’s Permit or License to schedule an appointment online, directly through the DPS website. Once ready, simply refer to the Student Dashboard “Help” tab where we provide a direct link to schedule your DPS Permit appointment. The student and their instructor must appear, in person, at their local DPS office to submit all of the necessary documents and fees required to obtain a learner’s permit from DPS.

What do I take to DPS to get my Driving Permit?

Completed & Signed DE964 Certificate

When can I begin to drive?

You may begin the “Behind-the-Wheel (In-Car)” instruction with your approved parent/instructor after receiving your Learner License (Permit) from DPS.

Note that a student-driver MUST always carry their Learner License (Permit) when driving, may NOT drive alone and must always be accompanied by a “Licensed” driver who:

is at least 21 years of age,
holds a Current and Valid Texas Driver License,
has at least ONE (1) year of driving experience and
Always Occupies the Front Passenger seat (next to the student-driver)

Before beginning any Parent Taught Driving Course, you must first purchase a Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE) Program Guide from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation. TDLR will charge a separate registration fee for the PTDE Guide that is not associated with or included in our course fee.
